Dropped out of college
Wait, what?!? A drop out? It’s true! It may paint me in a negative light, but I think it’s important to know that not everyone is ready for college at the “right” time. I gave it a try but my heart wasn’t in it then.

Went back to college
I was working as a dining room manager at a local restaurant and one day it just hit me…I decided I HAD to be a teacher. That night, I went home and started the application process and never looked back. That time around, I WAS ready and I loved it!

Earned Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education
I had 2 children under 5, worked full-time, and commuted 1.5 hours for on-campus classes. It was both exhausting and incredibly exciting! Looking back, I don’t know how I pulled it off – but I did it, and now I get to be a teacher and have a job I..Read More
Started working for the Best. District. Ever.
I had my heart set on working in a certain district but they didn’t hire me. Instead, I got offered a job teaching kindergarten in the school where I did my student teaching. It was an amazing place to work! I felt trusted and respected as a professional.

Started creating resources for TpT
I taught myself how to create classroom materials using PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. Not long after, I discovered TpT so I started uploading my goodies, and I’ve been surprised how things sell with such little effort on my part!

Left the Best. District. Ever. for a job closer to home.
I thought it would be better for my family and in many ways it was. But I no longer felt trusted or respected as an educator, and the expectations were not developmentally appropriate for my students. Being stressed-out all the time was NOT better for my family.
Earned Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction w/ emphasis in literacy
I loved working towards my Master’s! As an undergrad, it’s really hard to absorb all the info and recognize the importance of it. Going back after a few years of teaching made everything I was learning easier to apply to my teaching. It was so powerful!
2019
Got re-hired in the Best. District. Ever.
It didn’t take long for me to realize that I couldn’t spend another year in the other district. Luckily, my former principal offered me a job teaching kindergarten again! It feels like coming home and I am SO excited!
Started Little Playful Learners
I decided to jump on the bandwagon and start a blog. I just feel like there are so many incredible ideas out there that need to be shared – both with teachers and with parents! I want to advocate for fun, playful learning that is developmentally appropriate.
